New Orleans Designers to Appear on HGTV

"Brothers Take New Orleans" Casts Sarah James Moss of Moss Manor and Kelly Sutton of Sutton House to Join Drew & Jonathan Scott for Four Episodes on HGTV

[New Orleans, Louisiana, USA], November 7, 2016 - New Orleans-based designers Sarah James Moss and Kelly Sutton will appear on four episodes of "Brothers Take New Orleans" this fall.  The designers served on design teams for Drew and Jonathan Scott, known also as the "Property Brothers," as they compete for winning designs.

"Jonathan and I have designed homes all over the country and we love working with amazing local designers to help us really bring a true local flair to our transformations" says Drew Scott.  The brothers draw inspiration from the local culture, people and landmarks to renovate distinct neighboring homes in Treme near the French Quarter.  The homes will be given to families selected by SBP, a New Orleans-based national nonprofit.

The episodes will air each Wednesday on HGTV at 8 PM CST:

November 23 - Living Rooms

November 30 - Kitchen & Dining Rooms

December 7 - Bedrooms & Bathrooms

December 14 - Exterior

Moss and Sutton were identified by the Scott brothers for their previous design work.  Following a series of interviews in May, the designers were brought onboard in June.  The homes broke construction in July and the designers were filmed sharing design ideas, sourcing local vendors and sharing laughs with the brothers throughout the project.

Sarah James Moss worked under Drew Scott on his rustic modern renovation with Louisiana ties.  "Serving on Drew's design team was fun and rewarding, and being on HGTV is a dream come true" said Moss.  "Drew's standards were very high, but the end result far outweighed the challenges.  Drew was passionate about the project and genuinely wanted to infuse local elements into his design.  Both of the brothers are down to earth and genuine.  They were generous with their time and very gracious with their fans."

When asked about his experience working with Moss, Drew says "Having a local designer on my team was not only a huge asset in bringing an organic New Orleans charm to my design, Sarah also shares the same high level of quality with every project she takes on."

Kelly Sutton worked under Jonathan Scott on his vintage remix of a classic New Orleans home.  When asked about her experience, Sutton says, "Jonathan was so much fun to work under.  It was exciting to see his vision come to life.  There was a lot of work to be done in a very short time but it made it all worthwhile to know that in the end we would be giving back to families in the New Orleans community."

"Kelly was amazing to work with and kicked butt in helping me hone in on that authentic Louisiana style.  She not only brings professionalism and creativity to the table...but is also just a blast to be around," says Jonathan.

Behind the Scenes at Greystone

Where has this new year gone!  We are just catching up from all the fun we were having at the end of last year.  We ended 2013 at the Greystone Mansion Showhouse in Beverly Hills and decorated one of the bedrooms in the upstairs wing.  Voila!  The finished room.

Great design.  Great friends.  New design family.  And well not much sleep.

Lots of custom designed furniture and hunting around Los Angeles for unique pieces.

And of course we celebrated.  The opening of the showhouse proved to be just as grand as the house itself.  That's my fab photographer and favorite LA Aussie, Daniel Collopy.

But, what we haven't shared yet is all of the design work that went into this beautiful room.  Oh the details.

Starting with a blank slate.

Definitely didn't mind this as the office for a couple of months.

We were asked to choose a Titan of Business as inspiration for the design.  After having such a great relationship with Swarovski, it seemed only fitting to chose the woman behind it all, Nadja Swarovski, as the muse.

Mixing finishes.  Mixing styles.  Furniture concepts.

Project trays.  Fun fabrics and materials.

Custom furniture in the making.  The feet on the chaise lounge were designed to look like facets of a crystal.

And a custom designed rug in the making.  I took the form that the facets of a crystal creates and layered it to create the pattern.  I wanted it to be super neutral so we used varying heights and carpet construction techniques to give it lots of texture.  The pattern was then lined with smoky Swarovski Crystal Elements.  It was such a conversation starter in the room!

Custom framing vintage prints for the collage above the nightstands.

The amazing brands showcased in the room.

The design is done.  Now it's time for install.  Wallpaper going up.  Phillip Jeffries Tinseltown.

And the gorgeous crystal rug.

Furniture install.

Ahhh.  Complete.

Pop of green.

Project Update

Happy Friday and long weekend for some of you!  Sharing some progress on a project today that I have been working on in Marina Del Rey, CA.  We just finished up most of the architectural work and I had to have a little look back at some of the before pics!  Wow, it's so easy to forget just how far we've come!  If you have been following along on Facebook, Twitter,or Instagram you may have gotten a few sneak peeks at some of these photos!

Completely gutted the kitchen and opened it up!  Granite counters and back splash.  All new stainless appliances.

My client really wanted architectural wood and mirror paneling on the walls.  The idea was to have the gorgeous view of the marina reflected in the mirrors.  After some sketching and various layouts we finalized the design.  Looking like a whole new space!

Cladded the master bathroom walls & floor in marble.  Contemporary vein cut marble block became the vanity.  Back-lit electric mirrors offer a soft light in the space.  And can't beat the faucets that light up red when the water is hot and blue when the water is cold.  Luke warm...purple!

The small powder room really got glammed up with an onyx stone sink and bronzed horizontal mirror sheets on the wall!
